Our Marukawa Fusen Strawberry Review
Bubble Bunch testers tried the strawberry and came away impressed. Taste scores averaged 4.5. One tester put it simply: “Like the others from this company, great taste.” The other said: “Flavor is very strong at first.” The strawberry hits immediately, probably more assertively than you’d expect from a little marble piece.
Texture split between Just Right and Too Soft, with no complaints about hardness, which puts the strawberry on the comfortable end of the Marukawa lineup.
The two numbers that stand out are the bubbles and the duration. One tester got a softball-sized bubble, which is among the biggest result we’ve seen across all the Marukawa flavors we’ve tested. Duration ran 10 to 15 minutes, also ahead of the other flavors in the family. It’s possible the strawberry formula just has a bit more staying power, or one tester got lucky, but either way the numbers are there.
If you’re working through the Marukawa flavors, strawberry might be the most performance-friendly of the bunch. Compare it with the Marukawa Orange and see which one you’d put on your best bubble gum shortlist.

Marukawa has been making these little marble gum balls in Nagoya since 1959, and they're a beloved Japanese "dagashi:" penny candy with a thin pink sugar coating and, in some boxes, a hidden "win a free one" ticket. The strawberry flavor comes on strong at first, then settles down. Like the others from this company, it just tastes great. The pieces are small, so bubbles aren't great, but the flavor is excellent.
