  1. 🥇
Big League Chew - Original 5.0 duration

Few gums are as fun as Big League Chew. Pitcher Rob Nelson invented it in the late 1970s as a wholesome answer to the chewing tobacco baseball players spat back then: shredded bubble gum in a stay-fresh pouch, just like a tobacco pouch. The gum more than holds up. Our testers raved about the classic flavor that lasts a long time and a soft, perfect texture that won't stick to your face. The serving runs small, but double it up and you can blow some massive bubbles. Several of us call it a top-three gum.

    El Bubble - It's a Girl 5.0 duration

This is the gum you get for your friend who is having a baby girl, but who doesn't want a tobacco cigar. If you down the whole thing, it's a massive 20g serving size, so you can make huge bubbles. We thought it was overwhelming. It took 9 min just to chew it down to a manageable hunk. Quite the splurge, but it's worth it if you're celebrating a new life!

Marukawa Fusen - Strawberry 4.5 duration

Marukawa has been making these little marble gum balls in Nagoya since 1959, and they're a beloved Japanese "dagashi:" penny candy with a thin pink sugar coating and, in some boxes, a hidden "win a free one" ticket. The strawberry flavor comes on strong at first, then settles down. Like the others from this company, it just tastes great. The pieces are small, so bubbles aren't great, but the flavor is excellent.

Hubba Bubba Max - Strawberry Watermelon 4.3 duration

The Bubble Bunch did not agree on this one. Half the crew found the watermelon-strawberry combo flavorful and the texture excellent. The other half clocked the flavor fading in under four minutes, leaving behind something that chewed more like silly putty than bubble gum. Hubba Bubba has been around since 1979, disappeared in the '90s, and came roaring back in 2004 with this flavor in the lineup. It's got history. It's got initial punch. It just doesn't stick around long enough to seal the deal.

    Marukawa Orange 4.0 duration

Fantastic flavored gum from Japan. One of the highest rated gums in terms of taste and the texture is just right. You won't get huge bubbles, but that's ok because you'll be happy with all the other attributes of this exotic gum.

Hubba Bubba Max - Original 4.0 duration

Hubba Bubba is one of the modern classic "soft" bubble gums. All-around it's a great choice, solid flavor, texture, bubble-blowing ability, and even flavor duration. The coolest feature is that it won't stick to your face.

Bubbaloo - Sabor Menta / Mint 4.0 duration

Bubbaloo invented the liquid-center bubble gum back in the early 1980s, and the Mint flavor is one of the wilder applications of that idea. You usually only see mint in chewing gums, not bubble gums. Those first bites are sugary and minty in a way that's genuinely refreshing. The walls are thin, which means you can blow some impressive bubbles if you push it, but they're fragile. One tester also discovered the hard way that a popping Bubbaloo Mint sends a puff of minty air straight into your eyes. Consider yourselves warned.

Bubble Yum - Original 3.9 duration

Bubble Yum is a titan of the bubble gum world, we'd give it a place on the Mt. Rushmore of bubble gums. As the first "soft" bubble gum, it rose to fame in the mid-1970s and still holds up: great taste, a perfect soft texture, and solid bubbles. We just wish the flavor lasted a little longer.

Juicy Fruit - Original 3.9 duration

Juicy Fruit is a classic with a 100+ year history. Long knocked for fizzling out fast, its flavor got a longer-lasting reformulation in 2016, and in our tests it held up well, with a nice balanced flavor and hints of banana. The texture's a touch soft and the bubble walls run a little thin, but overall it's a solid, iconic choice.

Hit-you-in-the-face sour bubble gum capable of massive bubbles. We liked it!
