Hubba Bubba is a brand of bubble gum from the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, a subsidiary of Mars, first introduced in the US in 1979. For the bigger picture, see our history of bubble gum, or our full Hubba Bubba Max review.

Over the years, Hubba Bubba has expanded well beyond the original chunks of soft gum, there are shredded pieces, rolls of Bubble Tape, and these Mini Gums. The Skittles flavor landed in late 2023, and we couldn’t wait to try it, since we love bubble gum and Skittles. Surely this beats popping gum and Skittles into your mouth at the same time!

We were also pleasantly surprised to find it’s sugar-free. Now, to the taste test.

Our Take

The Bubble Bunch tested a standard one-piece serving (2.1g).

The Skittles flavor nails the original lineup, grape, lemon, orange, strawberry, and lime, and each of us tried our favorite. At first bite it tastes intensely of Skittles; close your eyes and you’d swear you had a real Skittle in your mouth, just with a gum texture. They nailed it, of course they did, since Mars owns Skittles too.

Flavor duration is solid but not long: we averaged about 6.8 minutes. Because that opening flavor is so strong, it’s easy to notice the moment it drops past the “half the flavor is gone” mark.

Texture is pretty normal for bubble gum, maybe a touch soft, as you’d expect from a Hubba Bubba.

Bubbles are where the Mini format holds it back. We couldn’t get much of one, mostly because the serving is just a little over two grams, and getting a real bubble out of two grams of any gum is tough. The whole time, we kept wanting to add another piece, but rules are rules, so it earns a modest bubble score.
